Pre-school - Caring for children 3 years to 6 years
The Montessori Method is a system of education born from the observation of the needs of the children at every stage of their physiological and psychological development. It's objective is to help the child with the enormous task of inner construction necessary to pass into adulthood.

Montessori @ Home Independent School emphasizes hands on, discovery based learning. Although the program promises to strive for a good standard of excellence, the children are challenged to compete against themselves, rather than each other.

At Montessori @ Home, we also aim for a close partnership between the home and school environment, academic accountability, and an innovative program that leads the children to develop high levels of personal responsibility, independence and self-confidence.

Montessori @ Home boasts not only an immaculate home setting, but also fully equipped classrooms and garden equipment .

Our staff are all fully qualified with a minimum of 2 years teaching experience.

Maria Montessori always advocated that world peace could be obtained through our children and this we, as a school can start to do with our children by teaching them respect for every other persons religion, colour, creed, nationality or social standing as an undying respect for the environment.

" There are many who hold, as I do, that the most important part of life is not the age of university studies, but the first one, the period from birth to the age of six. For that is the time when a man's intelligence itself, his greatest implement, is being formed. But not only his intelligence; the full totality of his psychic powers."
Maria Montessori
Areas of Montessori

Practical Life

The Practical life area enhances the development of task organization and cognitive order through care of self, care of the environment, exercises of grace and courtesy and coordination of physical movement.

Sensorial Activities

The Sensorial activities enable the child to order, classify, and describe sensory impressions in relation to length, width, temperature, mass, colour, etc.

Cultural Subjects

The Cultural subjects expose the child to basics in geography, history and life sciences. Music, art, and movement education are part of the integrated cultural curriculum.

Language Arts

Language Arts include oral language development, written expression, reading, and the study of grammar, creative dynamics, and children's literature. Basic skills in writing and reading are developed through the use of sandpaper letters, alphabet cut-outs, and various presentations allowing the children to link sounds and letter symbols effortlessly and to express their thoughts in writing.

Mathematics

The Mathematics area makes use of manipulative materials to enable the child to internalise concepts of number, symbol, sequence, operations, and memorization of basic facts.

"Our idea of a school is not a building with four walls in which to enclose and confine children, but a house wherein children are their own masters."
